20 person pile up in the p/1/2 race 34 miles in at the bottom of a small downhill. We were goign 30-35 mph on a wide open, straight two lane road. WTF!?! Anyways, I hit a pile of guys and flew head over handle bars landing directly on my left shoulder. Doesn’t feel very painful until I try to straigten out my arm or hold weight in my left hand. Might have a broken collar bone or shoulder or something. I’m lucky though. One guy is walking but can’t remember his name anymore or who he drove here with and another has a finger cut all the way to the bone as it was caught up in someones spokes.

Thing is tho 15-20 minutes later and still medical. The ambulance (and helicopter) had to go to a cat 4 crash where at least one guy is going into shock and two others may get a flight too.

Yeah, the firing ranges and Iraqi village at fort hood (the world’s largest military base) is a great place for a bike race but it’s out there.

Oh and my bike is toast. Broken all the way through the top and down tubes near the stearer tube. See photos below.

Condition of the race after the first of thee laps was: break of 7-10 four minutes up the road. Not sure of everyone in it but I know or am pretty sure it had: JT Cody, Colin Davis Matrix / RBM), Kolt Bates, Crossby, Mike Lalla, Christian Helmig…not sure who else.

Ok so enough typing. Time for me to figure out when and where I’m gonna get this shoulder looked at. I know though I’m NOT paying for an ambo ride, it’s just whether or not I go to the hospital in kileen or wait for doctors and hospitals I know in Dallas.

Thanks for reading, I’ll update later.
