Got back to Richardson Bikemart and met with Dr. George Markus who came over to diagnose me right in the shop. He said I have an AC2 separation in my left shoulder. That’s different from a dislocated shoulder. This is a separation (or perhaps a pull) of the tendons that hold the shoulder joint in place. Update as of Sunday night: it’s actually the tendons holding the collarbone to the the scapula.

He told me that they are graded on a scale of 1-4 with 4 being the worst and I probably have a 2. (surgery is recommended on 3 or higher) he also said that all I can do to heal it is not use it and keep it immobile for a while.

I’m going I into his office Monday after work for x-rays and to evaluate progress. I’ll wear a sling at least till then mostly to ensure people don’t slap me on my shoulder or back and aggrivate it.

Supposed to stay off the bike for 2 weeks or so but I was supposed to start my off season with 2-3 weeks completely off starting next Monday (after three track races next weekend) so it’s not too bad. I’ll just start my off season as of now.

It is a bummer though because those track races were going to be a lot of fun and I stood to make several hundred bucks so the lost fun and income to end the season is a bummer.

Well off to shower up and twiddle my thumbs alone in my apartment tonight. I have no tv or Internet and my DVD player isn’t even hooked up. Oh well. It could be a lot worse. I hope the other guys are ok.

Congrats to teammate Collin Davis who was in the break all day finished 3rd overall and first among the cat 2’s thus earning the cat 2 state RR championship. Well earned and deserved.
